Founded to Lead, Built to Last
Building Canada’s Loss Prevention Standard
The Association of Chartered Loss Prevention Specialists of Canada™ (ChLPS Canada) was officially founded in 2021 in response to the increasing complexity and urgency of business risks in today’s world. Recognizing a critical gap in professional standards, structured training, and industry-wide collaboration, a group of pioneers in the field came together to establish a national body dedicated to advancing the art and science of loss prevention.

Why We Were Founded
At a time when businesses were facing growing threats—ranging from internal theft and fraud to cybercrime and operational disruptions—our founders identified a need for a professional community that could set standards, offer credible certifications, and build a shared knowledge base for the industry.
Their vision was clear:
To protect business assets, preserve profits, and secure long-term continuity through professional excellence.
From Vision to Leadership
ChLPS Canada began by launching its flagship certification program, the Chartered Loss Prevention Specialist™ (ChLPS™) designation—Canada’s first advanced credential for professionals in loss prevention and asset protection. Soon after, it introduced the CLPA™ and CLPO™ certifications to support practitioners at different career stages.
Since inception, the Association has expanded its reach, building a vibrant network of professionals across multiple sectors—retail, finance, logistics, corporate security, and more.
Where We Are Today
Today, ChLPS Canada stands as the only professional association in Canada fully dedicated to the development and advancement of loss prevention as a recognized field. We continue to grow in membership, expand our educational programs, and engage with national and global stakeholders to shape the future of the profession.
