Our Mandate

The Association of Chartered Loss Prevention Specialists of Canada was established to promote the advancement of knowledge, research, education, training, professional certifications and code of ethics in Loss Prevention in all its ramifications in Canada and internationally, and build a community of Loss Prevention professionals; for professional networking, partnerships, advocacy, career mentoring, advancement, peer support, continuing education, professional development, innovation and learning.

The Association shall promote the interests of Loss Prevention professionals in Canada; establish and maintain professional, ethical & practice standards, foster global best practices in the Loss Prevention profession; and admit into the Association as members, only individuals who meet the membership requirements and demonstrate the highest standards of professional competence, skills and integrity.

The Association spearheads the design of the body of knowledge, establish examination and testing programs in Loss Prevention and awards the Chartered Loss Prevention Specialist (ChLPS™) designation to successful candidates, thereby providing the pathways of achieving formal qualifications, certifications, designations and professional recognition in Loss Prevention, with Canada-focused content, but with global applications.

The Association establishes standards, practice and technical skill sets in Loss Prevention, and administers the Chartered Loss Prevention Specialists ChLPS™ certification and accreditation programme in Canada, and also promote the Chartered Loss Prevention Specialists (ChLPS™) designation as the hallmark and symbol of the highest standard of professional certification in the field of Loss Prevention practice in Canada.

The Association of Chartered Loss Prevention Specialists of Canada is Canada’s foremost and only recognized professional body in the provision of capacity building in the Loss Prevention industry, and also partners with other professional associations, educational institutions & allied training organizations in delivering its capacity building and training programs.

The Association shall maintain dialogue, cooperation and partnerships with relevant government agencies, educational & training institutions and other relevant stakeholders in furtherance of the Association’s objects.

  1. To be Canada’s foremost and most influential professional body in the provision of capacity building in the Loss Prevention industry.
  2. To deliver through education and technological innovations, distinctive and excellent Loss Prevention professional certification; accreditation; and continuous professional development required for competence and capacity building.
  3. To support and assist our members’ lifelong professional education and development needs throughout their entire careers.
  4. To continue to provide leadership on research and intellectual discourse on emerging trends in the Loss Prevention sector and regulations in Canada, and beyond.
  5. To continually promote the institutional frameworks for supporting and maintaining the relevance of ethics and professionalism in the Loss Prevention industry with Canadian-specific content and worldwide applications, while placing special emphasis on internationally acceptable standards of best practice.
  6. To focus on attaining sustainable learning and professional development through creative alliances and partners with regulators, educational & training institutions, industry operators, and other relevant agencies and service providers for mutual benefits.
