Eligibility
Membership with ChLPS Canada is open to individuals and organizations who meet the standards of competence, integrity, and commitment to the field of loss prevention. Below are the eligibility requirements by category.
Licentiate Membership
Professional Prospects
Provides a starting point for individuals looking to establish a career in loss prevention.
Offers foundational knowledge and resources to help members gain traction in the loss prevention field.
Opportunities for career advancement or progression to higher membership levels within the association as members gain experience and expertise.
Entry Requirement
Possession of any of the following.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Evidence of Basic Training in Loss Prevention Studies from recognized institutions.
- Eligibility for introductory-level certifications or training programs offered by the association.
- Completion of an introductory training program offered by the association.
- Licensed Security Guards or Private Investigators
- Payment of annual membership dues.
Associate Membership
Professional Prospects
Recognizes a higher level of proficiency in loss prevention principles and practices.
Positions members as intermediate-level professionals within the industry.
Increased career opportunities, such as promotions or job offers requiring a higher level of expertise.
Entry Requirement
Possession of any of the following.
- Recognized Certificate or Diploma in Loss Prevention or a related field (e.g., Corporate Security, Criminal Justice, Private Investigation, etc).
- Completion of advanced training courses or workshops related loss prevention.
Plus
- 2-4 years of relevant work experience in loss prevention or corporate security.
- Payment of annual membership dues.
Certified Membership
Professional Prospects
Positions members as highly skilled and qualified professionals within the field of loss prevention.
Opens doors to leadership roles, consultancy opportunities, or specialized positions within organizations.
Provides a competitive edge in the job market and increases earning potential.
Entry Requirement
Possession of any of the following.
- Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's degree or higher, in Loss Prevention or a related field. .
- Possession of recognized loss prevention certifications
Plus
- 4+ years of proven experience in loss prevention.
- Payment of annual membership dues.
Corporate Membership
Professional Prospects
Enhances the corporate image and credibility of the organization within the loss prevention community.
Facilitates collaboration and partnerships with other industry stakeholders.
Provides opportunities for business growth, client acquisition, and market expansion within the field of loss prevention and corporate security.
Entry Requirement
Possession of any of the following.
- Must be a business or organization involved in loss prevention, corporate security and allied services, and be supportive of the association's goals.
- Active engagement with association initiatives and programs
- Demonstration of a commitment to ethical business practices.
- Payment of annual corporate membership dues
